Does anyone know of a good company that manufactures or sells awnings?

My HOA is very specific on what they allow. I've looked at other homes, and the awnings appear to be made with 1" square tube (aluminum or painted steel, can't tell) and covered with red canvas.

You can see an example of my neighbors in this picture.

Why would someone put those on their house? They scream, "Hey, I'm from up north and this is my vacation home. Why don't you and your buddies break in and steal everything. I won't find out for three more months."

Btw, nice patio set. Where did you get that?

To block out the sun. That is a western exposure, and from about 2:00pm until the sun sets the great room behind the wall just bakes. That awning cuts out most of the direct sunlight and allows you to grill on the deck if it's raining.

Patio set was actually from Home Depot, it was a "patio warming" present from my parents when I finished the deck. :)

I didn't realize it was just for the patio. I thought you wanted to put those on all your windows.

Why don't you tell him to get one of those roll up thingies like they have on the huge RV's? That way he can use it when he wants but it isn't necessarily permanent.

It was there when she bought the house. I already tried that.
