Do banks give out small loans for say $2000 or so? I've got the money but I'd rather pay it off in a few payments than all at once. Any ideas?

Yea.. The rate is less than desirable but yes you can get a personal loan for that amount.

If you're a member of a CU, they do this for a not so bad rate...

Unfortunately, I'm not a member of a credit union.

Go to the Bank or join a credit union, they will put a hold on your money and let you borrow against it at a very low rate. When you make a payment, that amt becomes freed up. So as you pay it down, your money is free. You can pay it off at anytime. This might be what you want to do.

If there's going to be a hold on it anyways and it not be available to me, why wouldn't I just take out the money and use it from my bank account and not pay any interest rate on it and pay it back as I please? I'm lost on that one.

I believe your looking for a "signature loan".
Call your bank, or walk in and talk to a loan officer. It shouldn't be a problem if your credit is in good standing.
