Im sure that Tampa will be completely overlooked, but I thought that I would point out that we are worthy of such a name. Although we are not a historically sports town, lets consider the following points:
-Buccaneers are NFL World Champions
-Tampa Bay Lightning are Stanley Cup Champions
-Tampa Bay Storm are multiple time Arena Football League Champions
And consider that the Rays and the South Florida Bulls could win championships in the very near future.
I guess this was just a little rant, cus I know that everyone will over look us and say we aren't a worthy sports city, but we've got major championships in 3 major sports, and two more could be right around the corner.
Feel free to throw in your opinions.
And lemme just throw this out before anyone else says it, I know we're not a Green Bay, or a New York, and deffinitley not a Boston, but still.

i'll be shocked if tampa even gets the slightest mention.

WE got a long way to go...Just think about it. Bucs and Lightning have won ONE championship each. The Storm simply can not and do not count, as the afl is not considered one of the four major sports.
Just in hockey alone, Montreal has won 26 championships. TWENTY SIX. My Red Wings of Detroit are a distant THIRD with 11. The shit hole that is Cleveland has 5 more titles than us.
We don't deserve any title town accolades historically speaking, but in THIS century I think we have as good a shot at anyone. Especially with the Bulls and Ray's turning the corners.

Yea, i know we're behind everyone else. But I just wanted to throw out there that we're not as bad as everyone outside of Tampa thinks we are. And I honestly think we've made the most growth in the past 10 years than any other sports town.

Gainesville FTW!
Tampa would never be considered for such a nomination. We're talking about New York, Boston, Green Bay...etc. New York gets my logical vote, Gainesville gets my second followed by Boston.
And I'm only counting Gainesville for obvious reasons.

Tampa is too laid back and doesn't have enough sports history to be considered.
At least we know Philly will be worse.

Uh....good luck with that.
Again, RECENTLY good, historically, not so much.

Green Bay is TitleTown, ESPN shouldn't bestow it upon themselves to decide which big-market/big-payroll town should be "TitleTown".

Look at July 14th.
Gainesville might not be a logical choice but it's not that far fetched. Florida is the only University to ever win 3 major National Championships in a calender year and hold Football and Basketball titles at the same time. Not to mention 3 Heismans, 21 Team NCAA national championships, 209 individual NCAA championships and 180 SEC championships and 39 out of the 76 medals won by UF athletes at the Olympics have been gold.
Unfortunately, calling another city Titletown is ridiculous to Greenbay. Its like
taking the windy city away from Chicago and giving it to another city.

Why yes, I did, and was also able to put 2 and 2 together with the avatar athat you just might be a Gator. There are valid reason's for G'villes nomination, just IMO there isn't a solid one historically speaking for that particular title. Hell, I'de like Ann Arbor to be called Title Town too, and there are also valid reasons for a nomination...but, it aint Title Town either.
Green Bay, Wisconsin is, and has been known as Title Town for a long time, just as Detroit is Hockey Town. No one is going to be able to change that via the talking heads of ESPN.

I'm about as pro-gator as you can get, but lets be honest, in my opinion to be considered, you need to have more than just a college team
I could see Detroit, Chicago, NY, Boston or LA being considered. But not Gainesville.

New York is TitleTown, hands down.
Let's add 'em up...
The Yankees (26 World Series championships, the most titles of any sports team in history), the Mets (two World Series championships), the Knicks (two NBA titles), the Giants (seven titles including three Super Bowl championships), the Jets (one Super Bowl championship), the Rangers (four Stanley Cups), the Islanders (four Stanley Cups). Used to have the Brooklyn Dodgers (one World Series championship) and the New York Giants of baseball (five World Series championships).
That's success in all major sports and a total of 52 championships. Nobody else is even close.

But on the other hand, is it fair they have multiple teams in most sports? I would agree in sheer volume of titles, NY is "title town", but I guess we'll see what the general population thinks.
it's greenbay, regardless of the fact that they got there with only one team in one sport.
ny would win on sheer volume, but i think its ludicrous that espn is going to effectively take it away from green bay.
and gainesville? lol. are you serious?
tampa? hahaha no fucking way
neither should even be visited, they're not in the running. i'd consider miami before either of those. miami has 2 world series titles, a host of college shit, a basketball title, and i dont know if the panthers have won it all or not? and not to mention the dolphins winnings.

Agreed on both counts. For some reason I'm starting to see a love affair w/ UF in regards to ESPN. They drug us through the mud before we beat OSU, now it seems they like us. Maybe it's my imagination, but they were at our spring game, and we seem to be getting a lot of preseason love. I think they're just coming to gville for this thing b/c we're a "now" school in regards to major college titles.

I guess I can say it again since some people have some trouble reading.
I only put Gainesville #2 because I'm a gator and to be an ass. I really don't expect them to break the top ten. I just listed thier accomplishments as to why they were nominated. Lighten up.

they do have the most championships but I dont think its about only the championships, I think theres other factors like the fans, the atmosphere(s/p), the city in general (like how the whole city supports the city's 1 team in every sport, where the city shuts down on game day, things like that)

Green Bay?? Nigga Please
They had a nice run in the early 60's, but were an absolute EMBARASSMENT from about 1969 through 1994 or so when Favre became decent.
I remember growing up in the early 80's, I could mark at least 2 wins for the bucs every year. We WOULD beat Green Bay and Detroit at home.
Remember they used to call it "THE BAY OF PIGS" on ESPN every time they played each other. They sucked as much ass as the creamsicle Bucs did back in the day.
Green Bay sucked so bad, they played 3 of their home games per year from the late 70's through the early 90's in Milwaukee. Their stadium is an absolute fucking DUMP, it didnt even have LIGHTS until the late 90's (after they won their super bowl) so they never played night games.
Plus they are a 1 sport town

I dont think Gainsville is too far fetched, Every town Ive seen them visit was a college town including Memphis and Tennesee.... 2 Bball titles and a few Football titles.

Boston Pretty much has the Title Town Title in the 2000's. 3 SBs, 2 World Series, 1 NBA Championship & 2 NCAA Hockey Championships. Tampa has too many fairweather, bandwagon fans. Looks at the Rays. When they were in first place for the first time this year, attendance was really high. When they dropped out it went down.
