All I see is a sea of rehab machines. Where are the athletes and the strength trainers? How many TV's does a gym need? Im not being a smart ass, i'm curious!

What dirty looks for in a gym, in order of importance:
1. Variety of equipment, balance is key in training.
2. Free weight selection, its go time.
3. Programs....aint nothin wrong with a little spinning now and then.
4. Extra-curicular shit...If I can swim, play basketball, raquetball, and then hit the steam room all in one day, then it was a pretty good day.
4. Entertainment. Cardio is boring, must have TV/Ipod.
5. Bitches, self explanitory.

I've been to FAMU's gym! haha.. I was like a piece of meat in there... I couldn't ever focus. Same with FSU's Leech Center, awesome facility - but social headquarters. That's fine for some, but I try to get into the gym, focus, turn up the music and go at it.

I go to Golds on 4th St/38th Ave in St. Pete. I really enjoy the facility. I'm not 'picky' persay... but the people that attend Golds are there to work out. I enjoy their SPIN instructors - some of their weight-training classes & just the overall environment.

Jesus Christ, its like a warehouse of racks and benches! :-o

Seriously, I've never seen so many in one place in my life.

Its owned by one of the bigger names in 80's and 90's powerlifting.

I took that pic when i was there for a seminar last may. Excelent atmosphere to train in.
edit, its got alot more shit than racks and benches, including 2 monolifts It just doesnt have any Lifefitness machines. They are meant for rehab, not training.

Not much choice other than them if you're working out alone, though. For instance, I can't benchpress freeweights alone - I NEVER do as many as I try to, and I can't be dropping 145-165 lbs on my chest. That shit ain't healthy.

I do it all the time. Power rack with the supports set up right below chest level. If i cant get it, I drop it on the bars and slither out.

Thats just my thoughts, its in no way right wrong or indifferent.

To the left of this newer version, you can see the indoor track.. Just below the track you can peer into the olympic sized pool below. This picture seems to be taken from the third floor which is the track, 2 basketball courts and 2 rooms for group exercising

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/radio_nine/lcbanner5.jpg
The second floor -- ellipticals, recumbent bikes, spinning bikes, stairmasters, etc. Basically the Chick floor

FSU spent 43k on new equipment including this Xpresso bike where you can log in and keep track of your spinning times and you can bike different terrains, almost like a video game. You can also race other riders.

The only part of the gym I take advantage of..... The pool. Also has 2 hot tubs, 2 steam rooms and a sauna... mmm

Given all of the above, this is my home 4 or 5 days per week, across the street from the Leach Center -- Mike Long Track Facility. Home of Walter Dix!
