The International Monetary Fund (IMF) needs hundreds of billions of dollars to protect struggling economies from the global financial crisis, according to Gordon Brown as he leads a business and ministerial delegation to

With many developed countries strapped for cash, the Prime Minister wants countries with large financial resources such as China and oil-rich Gulf States to contribute to a new IMF facility aimed at keeping vulnerable economies afloat.
global economy...good or bad? Do we REALLY want to rely on other countries for finance, what happens when one country shafts another on its finances?

The global economy is inevitable. And it'll go a long way towards stopping most of the wars, too. Well, that and whiping out crazy fucking religious zealots - I think the last two hotspots of them are Ireland and the Middle East, though, so we're making progress.

So you think Obama has good ideas then? How is Obama's socialism different than a world wide socialism in which COUNTRIES pay out to support other countries? You want YOUR tax money to help out other nations? More so that we do now?

I never said shit about global socialism. And I never said shit about Obama. I said something about the global economy.

??? And what was the article I posted about? With many developed countries strapped for cash, the Prime Minister wants countries with large financial resources such as China and oil-rich Gulf States to contribute to a new IMF facility aimed at keeping vulnerable economies afloat.

That sounds like global socialism to me...

Your opening comment on the issue is "global economy.....good or bad?"

Global economy. Good. It will be the ultimate form of the free market, by the way.

10-4 meow :) I agree, but do we need to establish a global monetary fund? What about a global currency? Once that is done, how far do we take this global sharing stuff? IMO I think it would be fantastic if we could unite the globe and move on with advancing teh human race, but someone (those in power) will fuck it up.

Global currency will come, but I doubt anytime soon and I don't plan on ever seeing it even in the works. It'll be a good thing once its all said and done and everything is settled - too. Do wonders for the stability of the global economy.

Global monetary fund? Some stupid shit like that might happen, but only as a way to organize the humanitarian aid we already provide to the whole fucking globe. IT won't really change anything, besides lining a few more organizers' pockets.

FYI, the ONLY way a global currency could ever happen is if we have world peace. I don't expect that to take place anytime soon.

I never said anything about it being anytime soon. First we have to get rid of this focus on religion. Then we have to achieve almost complete cultural diffusion. The technology end of the movement of goods and services making a global currency and economy truly possible will probably be around long before either of those happen. If the human race doesn't die off for whatever reason before then, I mean.

But it WILL eveuntually happen.

I thought the global currency was precious metals, and the exchange windows - seems like it's really already in place, doesn't it? :dunno:
