Anyone using a BB Storm out there? How do you like it?

I've read mixed reviews, but I think I'll pick one up.

Used it for about a week and will never use it again.

It basically took all of the good things about the iPhone and fucked them up. It's a very frustrating experience using one in my opinion.

i upgraded to the storm about a month after it came out. Diddnt really care for it took it back and reverted back to my curve. Everything worked fine i diddnt have any issues with the device other then it seemed to be really slow compared to my curve.

pretty much the same thing Garrett said.

I had it for 2 weeks and took it back. Very frustrating to use. Hated just about everything about the phone. The flash is SUPER bright. I liked that. Camera was good. That's just about it.

I'd hold out for the Blackberry Tour if I were you. It's rumored for a July release.

my stepmom had it for a week and returned it. I played with it and was outraged at how badly they fucked it up. BB needs to stick to what they know. The Storm is HORRIBLE

Okay. So I have had the phone for about 5 days now. I wanted to wait a while to use as much of the phone as possible.

On day 1. I hated it. It was slow, the camera took something like 6 seconds to take a picture. The keyboard SUCKED FUCKING BALLS. the landscape and portrait view switch was retard slow.

Then I went online. www.crackberry.com had many users who were so happy with their Storm. I didn't understand how they could be so naive, so fucking retarded to love this piece of shit phone.

Well, on day 2 I found something out that everyone else knew but me apparently. No one was using the stock Verizon OS. The version released .70 with Verizon is buggy as shit. Verizon has been given the other OS patches, but they do not apply them because 5.0 will be out soon.

So, on day 3 I upgraded my OS to 4.7.0.141 beta. I could not believe how much this improved... well everything. Every bad thing stated above has been addressed. The fucking thing is lightning fast with everything. The keyboard is responsive, and I can type almost as fast as I could with my 8700g.

This is the best phone I have ever owned. Hands down.

Really if you have this phone, and are unhappy with it's performance on all of it's apps. Download the latest beta OS, and just upgrade it. This takes less then an hour, and will save you more than that in one day.

I give this phone an 8/10 for style, functions, and ease of use. (After the upgrading of the OS) Before the OS upgrade, I would feel guilty for even giving it a 4/10.

^ thats awesome good for you...

i wished that beta OS was available when i had my Storm because i would most likely still have it. In july of 2009 verizon will be releasing the Blackberry Tour(its basically a CDMA Bold) and in September of this year the "Storm 2" with Wi-Fi is scheduled to be released. So i think im gonna hold off before i upgrade from my curve to see what my options are.

Love my storm. Typing is easy breezy and I don't really have issues with it locking up like my curve did.

And after a couple weeks: My Storm is the best fucking phone I've ever owned. I'm currently using the .141 OS and it's stable as a rock, and the typing owns my face once I got used to it. Took about a week to get it down.

Just in time for the storm 2 to come out!

Jeff

Yeah but from my understanding there's not much difference between the Storm and Storm 2. Im really happy with my phone and using beta .148 now =P

Didn't they get rid of the click-touch on the 2?

jriggs
05-24-2009, 03:03 PM
^from what i've read click screen is done and it will be touch just like the iphone, i will be picking one up shortly after they are released

as for the current storm. i loved mine but it couldn't handle me being as ruff on phones as i was at the time.

Jeff

No it still has some type of feedback. So it's not exactly like the iphone. I like the click screen =P

^You sure about that? It has been said that it's a pure touchscreen device. It's kind of difficult to achieve tactile feedback on a touchscreen.

No, not sure. It's just something I read a couple of days ago. Someone got a pre-release, barely working Storm2.

From all the reviews I've seen on it, the click feature is completely gone. No type of response when you touch the screen. So, it is like an iphone.

yup....

According to Engadget Mobile, the BlackBerry Storm 2 ditches the SurePress tactile touchscreen technology in favor of a more traditional capacitive touchscreen(INFO) display, which most users will likely appreciate. This smartphone also features a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and a standard 3.5mm audio port, which should help to offer a good multimedia experience.

CEO of Verizon said in an interview last week that the Storm 2 would be released "in about 6 months".

whichever is released first, the tour or the storm 2, I'll pick up. Worst case scenario is I return it and keep using my Curve til the next is released.

Although AT&T has the Blackberry Onyx coming out. EFFING PIMP! Everything you could want out of a blackberry wrapped into one! 3.2 MP camera, wifi, gps, 3G. And rumors of it having the new optical trackball!!!!!

have you checked out the Onyx? It may be worth making the switch to AT&T just for that phone. It's pretty sick.

i would use a can and a string before i switched to AT&T.

but as far as the ONYX theres so much speculation about what it is or what exactly its gonna be. You can goto 3 different sites and they all have different discriptions and different pictures for whats supposed to all be the ONYX. So i honestly dont know what to say about it.

 at the at&t comment. I'm just sick of the sorry ass phones Verizon puts out for Blackberry customers.

Crackberry.com has it in hands and did a review on it. That was done just a day or so ago. So, it seems they know what it actually is now.

looks promising but it has so many similarities to several other blackberries out right now or comming out in the very near future.

i would like to see the final specs that it comes out with, especially if it has a optical trackball ill have to goto a AT&T store to play with it but it doesnt have that wow factor to make me go out and buy it. Not to mention the fact its on AT&T and we know how much i love them.
