Nice write up.
Also: "Using Cisco IPS alerts, the research team was able to successfully identify and disable a botnet."
Largest plug that most people should reply to with: tl;dr

I hate security.
yah, i've been really tempted to try and go more into security since it's such a lucrative market and the demand is there, but it's quite stressful, and even just dealing with security at my current place (which is a "10% of the time on the job" deal right now) is a bit stressful at times. can't imagine having to bear the burden of a huge company you're supposed to "keep safe".

Dan- it sucks. I do very little of it (10-15%), but it's a major pain in the ass... Kind of like babysitting over 9000 kids. at once.

I just have no interest in it. I mean a lot of firewall features are cool, but they're a bitch to configure PROPERLY. And there's always new exploits and vulnerabilities that you have to look out for. Fuck all that.
The money in security is awesome right now, but so is voice, and it's less bullshit, IMO. I hate voice too though.:lmao:

Voice and Security are hot for sure.
Security always seems like a catch22 to me though, at any point someone can make a winning choice/decision and have your consultation credibility ruined. : (
