Anyone know if you can get the regular flu shot and swine flu shot at the same time?

I'm not a nurse but... I'm expecting and my Dr. told me that it was safe to get both vaccines (in shot form) at the same time.

my mom is a RN and she said that a regular flu shot has some amounts of the swine flue in it. And she said that it is safe BUT u might run a high fever for the 1st few days.
But i really wouldnt get the swine flu shot it has mercury (or how ever u spell it) in it.

Most all vaccines do, chances are every vaccine you have ever had in your life has mercury in it.

The US says its safe to have administer both at the same time, but in some countries such as Canada - they are actually delaying the regular flu vaccine until the H1N1 has been 100% rolled out because of a recent study that found the regular flu vaccine increases your chances of contracting H1N1.

The H1N1 vaccine does indeed contain more Thimerosal than the seasonal flu vaccine, as someone else noted in this thread.

I am a nurse, and I also have a 7 month old. I have researched every single side of the vaccine debate, spoken directly with a woman I have network connections through who is currently conducting vaccine research in her lab at Penn State, the properties of Thimerosol, and the current H1N1 risk. My son will not be receiving this vaccine, period. His pediatrician completely supports that decision, and he is pro-vaccine. He's actually currently administering half doses spaced out to his patients, instead of full doses of the H1N1.

If I were pregnant, I'd be extremely wary - and I will simply leave it at that. Keep in mind, there is no tin foil here either. Some choose to take their doctors word from the get go, and I completely understand where they are coming from. The decision should be personal, anyways. :)

I really wouldnt call the flu shot safe. It works but is far from 100% safe. I dont see were the GOV would say it is. Im assuming you dont remember Desiree Jennings?

I heard about Thimerasol from the doctor that comes on Bubbas show once a month. The guy definately sounds like he knows what he is talking about when it comes to that and seems to think that it may be a major factor when it comes to autism.

That may be true, but adults dont develop autism

I dont know about that so Im not going to try and prove a point there.

However, go ahead and start injecting yourself with toxic substances. Lets find out what interesting new and incurable immune system rape we can find that applies to adults.

My point is, injecting yourself with substances that are known to be toxic is a bad idea. Period.
