View Full Version : What was Bill thinking...

Ep41382

Up by 6, 4th and 2 on your own 30ish with 2min left on the clock and Bill decides to go for it!!! Who else was floored by this decision? Has to be his biggest bonehead decision as a head coach ever. I'm not sure if it was pure cockiness or lack of confidence in your own defense. But WOW!!

BTW. if you didn't see the end of the game, Colts stopped them on the 4th down, get the ball back and go on to score the game winning TD.

I still don't agree with that spot. And Bill was thinking his defense couldn't stop Peyton. He was right.

I still don't agree with that spot.

you and every other NE fan, but you can't deny the fact that he was bobbling the ball and then gained possession of it. Game of inches....:D

It is what it is. Spotting balls in the NFL is horrible this year. They'll give a guy a spot 2 yards from where is ends up even when the guy is making moves to gain yards, but they won't give Faulk that, cmon.

he shouldnt of made that call in the first place. fucking stupid. footballl philosophy.

I think he should have punted, but his defense was gassed.

i'd have punted. defense has a better shot at defending 60-70 yds over 30.

spots have been horrible this year though.

Boneheaded play call of the year, IMHO. It not only cost them the game, but possibly the season...NFW they get home field in the playoffs now.

I love it when the Pats lose, though, so I'm glad he did it!

I am not a Patriots fan and that was a dumb call by Belichek .. But the Patriots were in control of that for most of it and I dont think they would have a problem going back there and playing them again in the playoffs.. I dont think in any way did that blow there Season

It's MUCH harder to win on the road in the playoffs.

Gonna be Colts and Saints in the Super Bowl.

I still think the Patriots will give the Colts a good game if not beat them.
So Saints and Colts the 2 undefeated teams. I doubt they both make it The NFC is so up and down even the Saints have had some rough games lately. Vikings and Colts superbowl

The Patriots are better on the road than at home this season. And Peyton has lost to them in the playoffs two out of 3 times. Lol @ season ending. Shut up.

I can guarentee you this will not happen just on the basis of 2 things:

- The 2 teams with the best record in the AFC and NFC almost never make it to super bowl.

- Cmon, it is the Saints! lol

Everyone hating on the call?

Put a tired defense out there to hold back a strong, fast offense. The same offense that *just* went 76 yards the drive before this for a TD. In 1 minute 46 seconds, using no timeouts. So give them 2 minutes plus a timeout and see what happens?
Also, what would have happened had the punt return made 10 yards, now they're on the 40.

Or take your offense, which has averaged over 5 yards per down, and ask for 2 yards from them. And knowing that you were stopped last down, theoretically they should have gone 10 yards that play.

It wasn't as dumb a call as everyone flying by the seat of their pants makes it seem, if you think about it for a minute or three.

When else did the Patriots fail to make 2 yards in 2 downs that game?

I'm not a Pats fan, really. Poor, poor Bucs have my attention.

If it would have succeeded, the media would label him a gridiron genius. Then again, they dont care... a story is a story.

I'd love to see the Vikings in the Super Bowl. Can you imagine Percy Harvin with a chance to win a SB ring in his rookie year, the year after he won a national title with the Gators? Awesome!

If they had pulled off those 2 inches he would be a hero, instead he's getting criticized by everyone.

It sucks, they could have won if they hadn't decided to go for it; but they'll still be in the play offs. ; )
