How about this.
If my boss addressed my company and said we're being sold off to another company. I'd probably be opposed, most of my coworkers would be opposed, because there are too many unknowns in our future. Will our jobs be secure? Will we be paid as much? Will we be able to keep our way of manufacturing or is someone going to go 6-sigma on us? Truth be told, however, if the buyout did happen, There's a good chance I would get a good pay raise, I would be under the management of a larger, more secure company, and As an Engineer, I would probably get a lot more high-profile projects. I'd probably be better off, although I would initially oppose it. As for the doctors who say they'll retire. My boss threatened he would close our company down if Obama was elected. What has changed in my work life since? Nothing. Work still comes in, goes out, I work on the same projects and agendas, my job is no more, no less secure than when I started. It's all hot air. Any doctor who wishes to quit their practice can walk right out that door. I don't want a doctor like that. They can flip burgers for all I care. I'm more surprised that doctors support insurers as well as the uninsured over a system that is almost guaranteed to pay the bill. Insurers are the ones calling the shots. You want to know how frustrating it is to do your job when someone who has no clue decides to pull the plug? That's insurance. My boss (the guy who pays us) doesn't have a clue what it is we do here, but I'm fine with that because 90% of the time, he lets us do what we do, and we get it done. That's how this health plan works. Doctors want their patients to get the proper care. They want a sick person to walk in that door and a healthy person to walk out. They don't want insurance companies to deny medical treatments because of their bottom line. You want to know something, when (not if) a health care bill passes, and hopefully this one. Over the first year, the majority of Doctors who said they oppose are going to have no complaints. The majority of doctors who said they'll quit/retire will still be there. |

^^ why don't you just twist the living shizzit out of something to try to justify the horrible decision to elect Obama?
I have never, ever seen the right do this big of a song and dance to make Bushy look good, then again, he didn't suck nearly as bad as the azz we have in office right now.

Many times it takes a decade before the house of cards collapses. In the UK, and other countries everything was fine the first decade, it was once people started really using it that the house of cards that is universal health care collapses. |

I never said I was unbiased, to the contrary I've been pretty clear about my bias. What I've said is that I've been fair. I've been critical of both Bush and Obama for spending too much money and supportive of Obama and Bush when they shared positions on National Security and many other positions. That's called being consistent. Your welcome to try and prove that not to be the case. The search function works really well on this site. Quote:
See now your just being a troll. I'm pretty clear in this thread that I'm not a birther. In fact I call birthers "idiots" and explain why their conspiracy on Obama's birth certificate is wrong and even commend Derek for coming up with the definitive answer on the "birther" question. But that doesn't really matter to you... http://www.tampaforums.com/forums/fr...50/index5.html Last edited by Political_Man : 11-07-2009 at 12:30 AM. |

That all being said, I am still worried about the costs. Increasing healthcare coverage is synonymous with increasing healthcare costs. The more people with coverage, the more that the costs go up. I don't think that the Republicans really ever cared about the bad healthcare in this country or worried about those that weren't covered simply because to vote on any kind of reform would be to abandon their conservative principles. I'm fine with them sticking to their guns, I just think it's reckless of these people to claim that if they don't get their way, we'll descend into chaos. At the same time, I'd like for these conservatives to work on plans to root out wasteful spending. There are lots of medical arenas in which patients AND doctors throw away money like confetti on procedures and medication. They could work on plans to resolve these issues instead of wasting their time and energy fighting the inevitable. They could spend their time reaffirm their conservative ideals but we all know how inaffectual political leaders are and unfortunately, that'd be bad business for their campaign contributers. |
