Anyone worked overseas (Visa)
I've been looking around at jobs in Tokyo, actually have an interview requested right now.
Anyone gone through the Visa process? It would be an engineering 3 year Visa. One problem that comes up is that I don't have a 4 year accredited degree, nor do I have the "10 years" of career experience to qualify for one. I've also read about major companies pulling government strings to bring in foreign employees. Lets hear your experiences, if there are any. It could be any country, not specifically Asian. So far it seems like everything is geared to allow people to migrate into the USA, but not vice versa. Q What are the requirements for an “engineer” visa? A 1. An applicant must have graduated from or completed a course at a college or acquired equivalent education majoring in the subject relevant to the skills and/or knowledge necessary for performing the job concerned, or the applicant must have at least 10 years experience. However, this requirement may not need to be fulfilled in specific situations designated by the Minister of Justice. 2. The applicant should not receive less remuneration than a Japanese national would receive for comparable work. No I am not looking to just bang Japanese chicks. The company that hired me did my Visa for me, so I really don't know the process, but as Shinmei said, call the Japanese consulate in Miami. I think they might have you fill out a special application, and they'll need your passport for sometime too, but as long as you tell them the date that you're leaving to go to Japan, they will have your passport back to you within a week before your departure date

if you are a US citizen you can travel with just yuor passport...
if you want to work...you need a work permit/visa if you think we get pissed at illegals... JAL (japan airlines) gives you a brochure with your ticket that lets you know how illegal it is to work without a visa/permit... its funny cuz i think columbians and brazilians come in right after chinese and korean people on the amount of illegals in japan... |

I almost had to work in Japan once. I was on call for Disney for three months for a singing gig.
But the other girl got her passport in time. I would've loved the opportunity. My mom really wants to go, I've made it a vow after Matt and I's honeymoon that my mom, Matt, my brother and I should all go. But I don't know how expensive it is to travel leisurely in Japan. I'm guessing just the flight will kill me lol. Let me know how it goes. |

![]() for just the ticket try 1000-1200 on a shitty airline 1200-1500+ on JAL <- you're missing out if you dont take JAL... i spent over 4 grand in two weeks... and that was for airfare from here to chicago to tokyo bus tickets, subway tickets, 3 days at the olympic village (rooms the size of your bathroom) and food airfare from tokyo to oita 8 days staying with a japanese family bullet train to kyoto 3 days in a NICE 4 star hotel and this was with a travel group... if you're going alone to do tourist stuff your best bet is to rent a room from an "Inn" or something along those lines a little outside whichever major city you're visiting...they have great monthly rates food prices will kill you if you eat at "nice" places all the time... mom and pop places = best value for grub...they notice you're not jap and hook you up with extra servings lol get a subway pass...tickets can add up... visit the "major" cities, but the countryside is cheaper and better IMO lol 3 people going without knowing anyone...i'd say about 5-6 grand for your trip...depending on what you do i try to make friends with people through USF or friends of people i met over there so that i can secure a place to stay for free next time i go... USF travel Agency has some great prices for economy tickets oh and IBsoprannaUSFandPanzerbanetalkitoverandsay"WHENIWA SINJAPAN" ![]() Queenwench might have had a more economically easier time since she made money while living there lol... |

You can stay for 90 days before they'll ask for a Visa (same with any country that doesn't require a working or travel visa). People get around it by leaving the country for about a week or two and then coming back again to stay for another 90 days if they like living there a lot
