Unless there is more to this story it is dumb ass cops jumping the gun, they have a year to sell the pre-ban magazines out of state.

On Sunday January 6th Staff Sgt. Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran, was driving through Jefferson County New York when he was randomly pulled over for a vehicle check. Haddad, who had five 30 round empty magazines in his possession, was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and charged with five felony counts.
According to Haddad’s brother, Michael Haddad, Nathan thought these magazines were legally made before the New York Assault Weapons Ban. When Nathan Haddad was arrested the new ban had not even been fully enacted yet.

Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for the night. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
I don't think they were pre-bans
sig goes here
Too bad for him that he chose to become a decorated combat vet when he should have been a news anchor. If that were the case he would have been able to wave that mag around on national TV without a problem. Glad this menace to society is off the streets.
Wait, they randomly stop people to do a car check? I hope they have a warrant.
XYNaPSE: I'm not liberal. lmao You jackwagon!
clear: Then what are you? I dont know anything further away from moderate than liberal.
XYNaPSE: I like some liberal views and some conservative views but none of the extreme. So what does that make me?
Josh: Full of shit.
There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; The other is to refuse to accept what is true.

In police states like this that have these silly restrictions, I would love to see LEO's NOT exempt from these firearm restrictions except when actually ON the job.
Need a hi-cap mag? Fine, pick it up when you go on duty. Otherwise, learn how to fucking shoot and carry a 10 round mag like the average joe when off duty.
Want an AR? Too fucking bad, joe citizen cant have one, you cant either. Cops think they are above the law.
Some of this bullshit nit picking would stop if they had to adhere to the same laws the average citizen did.
Hopefully he was travelling through New York (wink wink)to another state where those mags are legal, if so he's probably covered.
http://www.cjrpc.com/interstate_1.htmFederal Law on Transportation of Firearms
A provision of federal law serves as a defense to state or local laws which would prohibit the passage of persons with firearms in interstate travel.
Notwithstanding any state or local law, a person shall be entitled to transport a firearm from any place where he may lawfully possess and transport such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and transport such firearms if the firearm is unloaded and in the trunk. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm shall be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. Necessary stops, e.g., gasoline and rest, seem permissible
FOPA has some limitations. Like you have to not stop in the state except briefly for gas/food/maybe an overnight stay, you have to have firearms locked in a case, and ammo/mags have to be locked in a case as well, a SEPARATE case from the firearm.
Another thing, law enforcement are completely ignorant of the law, sometimes on purpose so you might end up arrested and have to deal with the court system to clear your name.

Jury nullification is the citizens' last best hope before resorting to pitchfork time.

I agree with one exception. I don't care if they are on duty or not, they only get the same guns that everyone else gets. They aren't going to a war zone, they are working the same streets that you and I travel and live on. If we have no "need" for "high capacity" mags because 7 rounds will keep us plenty safe then they don't need more than 7 either. The scumbag gang bangers that they run into with the illegal weapons are the same scumbags we are getting robbed by. Let those with "authority" be held to the same laws we are and a lot of stupid shit would never become law. The next amendment to the constitution needs to worded to this effect.
That's obviously not true. Witness the hapless NYPD, 2 officers trying to take down one armed man, shot 16 shots in quick procession and ended up hitting 9 bystanders. And the cops "acted appropriately".

You all remember this one, it was initially reported by the media as a "mass shooting" at the empire state building. Only to find out later that the guy killed one person, left, and then was confronted by the cops who sprayed bullets like fucking retards, killed the suspect and wounded 9 bystanders. In other words, a "mass shooting" by the cops.
