wow, dug on it, and you're right... i assumed on tint because of other laws (makes sense, right?) but it's still perfectly legal to cover them with 100% opaque vinyl or to not have them, replaced with metal.

and thats when he pulled up and "ran" our tags to see if we had any outstanding tickets... i mean i could understand if we were some little ass jits with no helmets/jackets/shoes/gloves. but we had all that.

Arent there monthly quotas? Dont try to tell me there isnt because if that was true then groups of 10-20 cops would not be hiding out over in the area on eisenhower south of the airport every friday afternoon and worse toward the end of the month. The speed limit is 40 mph but everyone is doing minimum 55 mph. Going with the flow of traffic puts you at 15-25 mph over the speed limit automatically so its easy pickings. If there is no quota and the idea is to protect drivers and not raise revenue then why does that occur? Going the speed limit in that area would obviously cause an obstruction in the flow of traffic thereby creating more of an unsafe driving condition.

But does that apply to trucks, SUVs and Vans? I know the back door windows and rear windshield must be 15% and I think the front windows 20-25%, but Vans and SUVs typically have 2 B-pillars and anything behind the second row of seats is considered to be the trunk.

I believe the monthly quota thing is a myth, they don't have to make a quota, but if they're not writing enough tickets, they might be questioned by their superiors on their performance. It's basically something to do when there's no other crime going on. It's like when you're at work on a slow work day so the boss hands you a mop, just to keep you busy.

I don't blame cops completely for the fact that they sit on the side of the highway and harass 1 out of every 1 people, the department wants to make as much money as possible off of the general public, cops are the means to do so. I'm sure they do get bonuses in certain cases. I'm willing to bet Holidays are a big one.

What I do blame cops for is being general assholes about the situation. Most are looking for an excuse to escalate the situation into an arrest or generate as many citations as possible. They have no regard for the fact that the average traffic stop costs the average person's weekly pay. An entire weeks pay blown because I forgot to signal and the cop also noticed a brake light is out, or I happen to be carrying my OLD insurance card, or I simply LOOK suspicious. Is that how they keep people in line?
