Ya know, it's not my fault I don't have a scanner. Well yes it is but anyone who has ever been to my house can tell you I live in a technoligically unadvanced cave.
I have been talking to Nextel about this alot. Apparently, I was billed immediately in December for these charges and what some of these assclowns did was charge me at the beginning oof January before my billing cycly ended. So in essence, I was billed twice by alot of them in one billing cycle. I just spent two hours sifting through my bill and it looks like I have 168 calls to make to companies that doubled billed me. So much for not going over my minutes this month. Looks like the actual charges should have been somewhere in the $4,300.00 range |

What you want to do in this situation is find out IF Nextel has to take responsibility for the 3rd party charges if you don't pay. For example, have they already paid 3rd party text vendors? Find out if Nextel is collecting the text money to recoup what they've already paid the 3rd party vendors, or if the 3rd party vendors only get paid AFTER you pay Nextel.
Meaning if you don't pay your "miscellaneous charges" bill is Nextel going to after you and wreck your credit or is it the 3rd party vendors responsibility to collect? If you close your nextel and pay their fees and charges, and leave the misc. charges open, are they going to send you into collections.... It's a long shot.. but if not Nextel doesn't assume responsibility for those charges then I highly DOUBT that the 3rd party companies are going to wreck your credit or file anything more than some nasty collection phone calls. I doubt this happens alot with them, or atleast I doubt that happens enough for them to have a concrete system to get their money back if someone doesn't pay. Now, if Nextel does go after you for the "other" companies charges, then explain to Nextel in a certified letter that you don't plan to pay the 3rd party charges, and you will settle your bill with them if they wish. I think someone at some point in Nextel's collective dept will take sympathy for you IF they have the ability to let the "3rd party" companies go after you for payment. With hundreds of companies that only get $20-$60 from you, I doubt they are going to waste their time individually(unless they all are the same company, and you collectively own one company that $7000) I'm not a lawyer, but that's the approach I would attempt to find out. Just hope it's similar to regular land line phones and the "long distance" carriers. If you had a GTE local phone service back in the day, but you'd use ATT for your long distance and wracked up an LD bill, it would be ATT's responsibility to go after you, not GTE. b. |

Yeah, I am disputing all the charges. I have yet to hear back from Nextel. They said 5 to 7 days. I'm assuming business days. I ought to know something by tuesday at the latest. Worse case, I will work out some type of payment plan. I just don't have that much money lying around.

Hahaha I noticed the linkbacks or whatever they are called below
![]() http://consumerist.com/consumer/cave...nth-235617.php This is my favorite comment: louiedog says: If this was a $70, or $170 bill I'd feel bad for the guy. But $7000? What was he thinking? That makes me feel bad for him, any potential spouse, and his poor shoeless future children. He's probably unemployed as well. Think of all the late night TV you'd have to watch to find $7000 worth of those commercials. 02/11/07 03:09 AM

I call bs.
You should scan the bill and show us, host it at imageshack.us I just asked my lawyer about this and he told me how to get cleared of all the owed $ except ur orig cell phone bill.. but i just dont believe you could possibly rack that much $ up, or be dumb enough not to know those arent free txt msgs. I mean anyone with half a brain knows those commercials cost money to be put on TV, and they have to make money off of there service, shit. Last edited by Destrukt : 02-18-2007 at 08:58 AM. |
