Yes! People with kids are the one's using the parks, on the road driving the kids to and from practice, putting them on the "free" school bus. I should get a tax break for NOT using all that crap.

In some neighborhoods, people who have over two children allow the additional children to be claimed by friends and relatives, so that they too can qualify for an earned income credit. I've noticed this while preparing taxes the past couple years. It wouldn't surprise me if rosters with names, birth dates and social security numbers for children under 17 are posted on bulletin boards at laundromats.

Breeding while destitute is an art form. For the 2009 tax year, the Earned Income Credit will allow for three qualifying children (instead of two), and will top out at $5657.

The average $8 an hour single mom with three children, already getting a housing subsidy worth $500 a month, EBT food stamps of over $350 a month, and paying in the 10% tax bracket will get back $7,000 this tax season, assuming they didn't fill out a W-5 at the beginning of the year (Then they get back a portion of their EIC during the year instead, but the total amount of the credit is not affected.) That's about $34,000 a year in income, tax free.

Where's the incentive for a woman to better herself if she can simply squeeze out three kids at 18 years old, then do it again at 32, and live a middle-class life with a barely-full-time McJob for nearly three decades? Welfare-to-work in action, kids.

I'm just glad I can pinch about $400 a pop to prepare those tax returns. Welfare queens never itemize deductions and almost never have adjustments to deal with. Easy money.

and as soon as all the 20 somethings on this board start getting those child tax credits, they're going to support them. people, overwhelmingly, vote for things that benefit them, regardless of what is right or wrong.

Yep, I know. But there is a trend of folks waiting later in life for marriage and family and hopefully become less hypocritical and more logical with age. So maybe, just maybe the voter numbers will add up. But I doubt it.
