Till death do us part (integrity discussion v. McCain)
How many people take these words seriously? And if they don't does it make you less likely to trust them in other walks of life? eg.....you know someone has shitty relationship values, are you going to hire him for an important job, trust them with your money, etc?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...ft-behind.html snip She was the woman McCain dreamed of during his long incarceration and torture in Vietnam’s infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’ prison and the woman who faithfully stayed at home looking after the children and waiting anxiously for news. But when McCain returned to America in 1973 to a fanfare of publicity and a handshake from Richard Nixon, he discovered his wife had been disfigured in a terrible car crash three years earlier. Her car had skidded on icy roads into a telegraph pole on Christmas Eve, 1969. Her pelvis and one arm were shattered by the impact and she suffered massive internal injuries. When Carol was discharged from hospital after six months of life-saving surgery, the prognosis was bleak. In order to save her legs, surgeons had been forced to cut away huge sections of shattered bone, taking with it her tall, willowy figure. She was confined to a wheelchair and was forced to use a catheter. Through sheer hard work, Carol learned to walk again. But when John McCain came home from Vietnam, she had gained a lot of weight and bore little resemblance to her old self. Today, she stands at just 5ft4in and still walks awkwardly, with a pronounced limp. Her body is held together by screws and metal plates and, at 70, her face is worn by wrinkles that speak of decades of silent suffering. For nearly 30 years, Carol has maintained a dignified silence about the accident, McCain and their divorce. But last week at the bungalow where she now lives at Virginia Beach, a faded seaside resort 200 miles south of Washington, she told The Mail on Sunday how McCain divorced her in 1980 and married Cindy, 18 years his junior and the heir to an Arizona brewing fortune, just one month later. snip I don't know how true this story is, but we'll use it for an example. |

Did you not go and read the full story?
"But already the McCains’ marriage had begun to fray. ‘John started carousing and running around with women,’ said Robert Timberg. McCain has acknowledged that he had girlfriends during this time, without going into details. Some friends blame his dissatisfaction with Carol, but others give some credence to her theory of a mid-life crisis." "In 1979 – while still married to Carol – he met Cindy at a cocktail party in Hawaii. Over the next six months he pursued her, flying around the country to see her. Then he began to push to end his marriage. " |

Some people think their significant other is not so hot anymore all the time. It happens! You can get divorced.....It's not illegal even though he may appear to be a shady person because of it. If you think that is going to somehow screw us if he becomes president, keep reaching, cause you arent quite reaching far enough yet. |

I think slandering someone based on their relationships, which have nothing to do with their ability to run a country, is completely fucking GAY. But everyone else seems to eat it up like its the intellectual version of American Idol or something.
Go focus on something that matters, you buncha hens. |

Back on point, if a man can't keep a commitment with someone he loves, why would you trust them to be a business partner. Ok, so the deal didn't look as appealing a few years into it, most commitments don't. Thats where integrity comes in, (if you have any). |

He got a divorce, big fucking deal get over it. Vote for someone else if you dont like this guy because of who he dropped to re-marry, or just go fuck the dude because you are sooo into his private life. And if he was unfaithful, that doesn't mean he cannot or will be suitable as a president. The two things are nothing alike. |

i think divorce is such a bullshit thing
especially this no-fault divorce that FL has both my mother and my father have been married (tho to separate people, im a bastard child and my parents never married) and both have gone through divorce in their marriages both times, it was the man who filed the papers for the divorce (tho my dads was more justified than my step-dads divorce) me, if i get married, that shit is going to be permanent. im not backing out, im not getting married to exclusively be with some hot woman. im getting married because im truly going to love that woman without any shadow of a doubt in me so that line "Till death do us part" means a lot to me and its what im going to live by in my marriage (tho silently) |

-------------------------- Here's what I have to say. We need to stop acting like Marriage is sacred and is a lifelong commitment, that went out the window, sometime in the 50s or 60s. The only people who still cling to that line are politicians and the idiots who will believe whatever a politician says. Ironically, politicians who use this line are the only ones who get caught with their pants down. It's as if the more you push for one thing, the more likely you are to be a dirty, dirty hypocrite. In the same sense, you know these religious nuts who claim you can pray homosexuality away? Why is it they're the only ones who act like having sex with another man is a sweet, sweet, chocolatey temptation? Oh, I know, because they're really closet fags who build their life around a heterosexual lifestyle only to break down and mouth fuck another dude in a public restroom behind their wives backs. |

Now in all fairness, my guess is that he has regrets of throwing that marriage away, and would most likely honor his vows to his current wife....But a huge portion of this nominees platform is based on his character at that point in his life. All that being said. Back on point... I had a business partner once who cheated on his wife on a regular basis. Seeing that he was able to lead that sort of dual reality, two faced, dishonest lifestyle, made me completely question his loyalty to me, in our business, and I eventually got rid of him. How can you trust someone who disregards their most serious commitments? |

It's hilarious to see all folks swing on McCain's nuts when he's so far from conservative. The fact is; we don't have a decent candidate with any chance of winning running this term. What we have is a candidate pushing towards communism, and a candidate who's not quite as bad about redistributing wealth, but will want to be the morality police. Fuck them all. |

If conservatives had a clue about what 'conservative' even is, I would be a conservative. We haven't had a decent candidate since I was born (well, maybe 1 or 2). I think the only people who make it this far in politics are the worst representation of what this country needs. I'm sorry, I must've missed a thread. What's this communism bullshit? I assume that's towards Obama. The only thing obama is pushing towards is a strong middle class. We haven't had a middle class in about 6 years. Taxes = communism, Really? People are real idiots if they think they can relate to people like the Hilton Family. The only people who are looking to suffer from Obama's tax plans are the people who already run this country. As I said before, if you're rich enough to afford lobbyists and benefit financially from laws passed by lobbying. Then you can afford some taxation. The people who are going to get taxed pretty stiffly are the people who control tax spending. If you want to put $1B of taxpayer money towards the fight against (e.g Online pornography), let's see you front a good bulk. |

A government taking money from the wealthy, and giving it to the poor is dabbling in communism.
And take a look at this: "Capital is therefore not a personal, it is a social power," -Karl Marx The Communist Manifesto "[Billionaires] have this idea that it’s ‘their money’ and they deserve to keep every penny of it…" -Barack Obama The Audacity Of Hope, Pg. 191 ================================================== ======================= "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." -Karl Marx The Communist Manifesto "We’ve got to make sure that people who have more money help the people who have less money. If you had a whole pizza, and your friend had no pizza, would you give him a slice?" -Barack Obama Durham, N.C. 11/01/07 ================================================== =================== “Religion is the impotence of the human mind to deal with occurrences it cannot understand.” -Karl Marx The Communist Manifesto "…they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." -Barack Obama San francisco, 2008 ================================================== ====================== “Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with the view of confiscating them and leaving the population defenseless." - Vladimir Lenin "I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manufacturer’s lobby." -Barack Obama The Audacity of Hope, p.215 ================================================== ==================== "Comrades! We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all." -Nikita Khrushchev February 25, 1956 20th Congress of the Communist Party "We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times… and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK." -Barack Obama May 2008, Oregon Primary Campaign ================================================== ===================== Last edited by oh1coupe : 09-07-2008 at 06:00 PM. |
