McCain has stated that the failure of his first marraige was his greatest moral failure and that he alone is to blame.

It was terrible how that ended...and a very tough situation. But until you walked a mile in his shoes (came back from veitnam as a 5 year POW) and a mile in her shoes (terrible accident,disfigured etc) I doubt any of us can answer that question....or put a label on what they went through during that time. I doubt most marriages would survive. Hell...50% of marraiges dont survive as it is..with no dramatic curcumstances.

That story does make my stomach turn though...she waited all that time for him.

But...His second marraige lasted nearly 30 years and had some rough times as well.

So as far as those situations go....IMO those situations have little impact on wether or not he can be a good leader.

I am with you on that in a small sense... Not a small sense being I am only there with you half way or something, but let me explain.

After my accident last year when I was ran over, my world was fucking screwed up, turned upside down, and my head was not held in place. I was mentally whacked out for a while and totally needed to readjust to a lot of things. I can imagine if you were a prisoner of war for 5 years that it would probably mindfuck you just a tad bit. Myself, well I was dating a beautiful girl at the time and she stuck with me the whole time I was out of the world and sleeping because of my induced coma, and stuck with me through the whole hospital ordeal, and maybe 2 months after I had gotten released and sent home. I later told her I didn't think it was such a great idea for us to be together because I needed my own time to focus. I needed me time, no one else could even fit into the picture.

Now if I needed time to be me, and get my head straight once more, then I am sure a prisoner of war of 5 years would need a hell of a lot more than just "some time to get his head straight".

1) No one is redistributing money from a higher class to a lower class, I think you lost the idea of income tax.

2) No one's getting taxed any more or less than they were in the 90s. The only thing that has changed over the last 8 years is the massive amount of tax breaks and look where we are now.

This Fannie and Freddie shit. This is going to cost the economy in the trillions of dollars.

Well since a small percentile of taxpayers pay the bulk of collected taxes that are used to pay for the welfare programs for those that barely pay taxes, I would call that redistribution of wealth.

Besides, fixing the huge debt problem does something else, it gets people jobs.

We're too far in debt to bother with welfare anyhow. Maybe it could go towards, iono, the war, homeland security, FEMA, schools.

People lose all perspective when we change policy. For example, if the rich are being taxed X amount in 1999, Bush reduces that to Y amount, and Obama Plans to bring it back up to X amount, it's a communist conspiracy. How about schools, they're running at 50-75% their original budget thanks to our shitty economy. If we brought that back up to 100%, all of a sudden it would be a conspiracy.

Still a sack load of shit. You're basing that on his tax proposal. You're honestly suggesting that he's going to take the rich 1% and tax them until they're rich no more. You're also suggesting he's going to use that money to raise welfare and otherwise redistribute that money amongst the poor community.

Taxes pay for wars, wars that really, only the rich 1% want. It also pays for all the pro-religious laws that the right wing wants, it also pays for schools, roads, police enforcement, energy independent technology, etc. Communism can never work in the largest capitalist nation in the world, even if the government pushed it.

We're in the worst debt I've ever seen this nation get into. Yea, taxes suck, but the benefit is you'll get paid more, you'll get a better job, your company will get more business, your commute won't cost as much, neither will your food.
