[ Ford ] 11/1/2009: Billion dollar profits after four years of losses...
So no one feels like scrutinizing the amazing news about the only non-bailout domestic motor car manufacturer?
I felt really happy at first, but then if you look at the financial statements and reports it looks less than amazing - by cutting jobs, benefits, and other payouts that have been there for the past four years...it's not really all that amazing or hard to believe that they were able to be in the black. At nearly 7.50/share now I hope everyone jumps on their back so I can put in a short at 10.00.... ....opinions? |

autoblog had an article posted up a few weeks ago about a survey conducted a lot of GM and mopar owners would consider buying a ford next time around since they didnt take bail out money. And there was more ford owners going to buy a ford again than any other maker.

I'm a Ford fan, don't get me wrong - I drive a Fusion, and would most likely buy another one or a Mustang/F150 without too much forethought. I just don't think that shooting out a billion dollar profit for the quarter was really as awesome and amazing as the masses are going to make it out to be.

I think the one thing that is going to kill Ford's earnings in the next year is them being too agressive with their hybrid pricing. In the beginning, the Ford hybrids were cheaper than the Toyota and Honda options, but now that Toyota and Honda's pricing dropped a bit*, Ford's pricing has actually risen higher than Toyota's inital prices. I would have bought a Ford Fusion hybrid this summer if this weren't the case. I'm holding until next quarter's earnings, then either holding or selling. I haven't seen any further movement from them rumor/news/development wise lately that would make their stocks rise with legitimate reasoning behind it. * - I want to say Honda dropped the hybrid Accord in 2009 due to sales being really low the previous year. |

I tell how I feel and you want to beat me up, is that the way it works? So I picked GM over F and you won, or you think you won? What you don't understand is my opinion changes daily. |
