Rumor: New Resident Evil film out by September 2010

Film enthusiasts Shocktillyoudrop.com have got wind that Sony Pictures is aiming to have Resident Evil: Afterlife in theatres on September 17, 2010, citing info obtained via a ‘studio insider.’

Some of you may recall director Paul W. S. Anderson mentioning late last year that he was in the process of working on a script for the long rumored zombie sequel, which will supposedly be set in Alaska and Tokyo. Anderson also divulged that Capcom was getting involved with the project.

Little else is known on the film, including whether or not Milla Jovovich intends on reprising her role as virus-enhanced zombie slayer Alice. Given the conclusion of RE: Extinction, though, we reckon there’s a high probability.

Although the RE movies arent very good, because im a fan of the resident evil franchise, i'd still watch the movies.

Actress Milla Jovovich has divulged that filming for the fourth Resident Evil movie will commence at the end of 2009.

The movies aren't the best movies, but if you are a fan of RE or just like post apoc/zombie movies then they are definitely worth the watch. I've enjoyed the past few and this one should be pretty over the top and Tripw0l where is your sig from ROFL

Resident Evil: Afterlife will be in 3D

Movie director Paul W.S. Anderson has revealed that the upcoming fourth entry in the Resident Evil movie franchise (tentatively titled RE: Afterlife) will be presented in 3D and has been conceived as a “rebirth” of the series.

Speaking to website ShockTillYouDrop.com, Anderson stated that he will be directing the flick in addition to confirming the return of actress Milla Jovovich as feisty undead slayer Alice.

“I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films," he said. And we've been very lucky where it's a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I'm really excited we're doing it [in 3-D] and we're using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."

While much of the plot remains underwraps, it is believed the zombie sequel will feature a number of other returning characters from previous films, including the appearance of several new characters plucked from the videogames.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is currently pencilled in for release on September 17, 2010.
