Help Me!
I am extremely close to being able to apply to the College of Education. I am JUST NOW finding out that my AP Composition I has not been sent to USF. Has anyone had this happen? How do I get it transferred, etc? Do I just call my old high school and ask them to send my grade to USF? This is a vital class that I need obviously. Any help would be nice. Thanks!

PS- I already found out about the AP credits I had. I sent $25 to the Advanced Placement Services in NJ along with a letter with info they needed and it should be sent to USF. |

advisors are a pain in the ass to get into, but it's gotta be done. You can download general education requirements from USF's website relatively easily though. You can also get your FAFSA through my usf, which will tell yhou where you are credit wise and what you still need.

http://www.coedu.usf.edu/main/prospective.html
This takes you to the main page and you must click whether you are a undergrad or grad student. If you are undergrad, like me, you would click that and it will give you a list of prerequisites. http://www.coedu.usf.edu/main/sas/Pr...teAdvising.htm After reviewing that, please keep in mind that if you took any AP courses, they MAY NOT have been transferred to USF. Only dual enrollment courses (courses which you took in high school through a college like HCC) are automatically transferred. In order to get an AP class credit transferred you must visit http://www.collegeboard.com/student/...p/contact.html. If you took the course within the past 4 years you can do it by telephone. If you took it more than 4 years ago you must do it through the mail. Both will cost $25 per transcript. Print out the following checklist. You will have to click whichever program you are interested in. Once you have completed this, you should be able to apply to the college of education. http://www.coedu.usf.edu/main/sas/ne...hecklists.html One checklist item is that you take a general knowledge exam, whether it be PRAXIS I, CLAST, or GKT. I suggest you take the GKT because it is also an exit requirement. The tricky thing about the GKT is that you can take the computer based test, but the essay portion is not offered. For that you have to go through the standard test. If you go to this page http://www.cefe.usf.edu/ you can click on either computer based or standard. If you go to computer based you can register with www.catglobal.com for 3 exams: Language skills, math, & reading. The 4th exam is the essay. You can take all 4 the standard way as well or you can register for the essay separately through http://www.cefe.usf.edu/BulletinRequest.aspx. You have to ask for a registration bulleting through the mail. Once you receive it there should be a scantron that you fill out and register for the essay only or all 4 sections. Notice, there are no prerequisites requiring an A.A. or A.S. or degree of any sort. I hope this helps! These are some of the bumps I've encountered along the way. I am actually going to make a separate thread. |

Would have been good to know back when I was doing undergrad @ USF but much like Regina I found it out through digging around. I had the same situation with 6 credit hours worth of AP courses, paid the $ for the transcripts and merrily went on to graduate.
