I was just browsing the Verizon rants thread and so far the amount of complaints in there versus the 1 complaint in here... BHN doesn't seem to be so bad... until I add my complaint now...

The sound quality on channel 55 (Court TV) is horrible. It's mainly pops and static even though the picture is fine (as good as can be for non-digital) and every other channel is working fine. Also, no matter what TV or channel I'm watching, the picture and sound goes out for a few seconds and then returns after getting distorted/boxy. I thought it was my connection at first but my parents have been having the same problem (both of us are using non-digital). I would upgrade to digital but it's to expensive at the moment for me, I can't see myself spending an extra $56 for digital since I rarely watch TV as it is, but the few times I do watch it I would expect it to be watchable.

Also, my dad is wondering if this is a tactic to get people to switch to digital cable. I don't think it is but I could be wrong.

Ok, you'd be retarded for switching to BHN digital cable, especially since you're in the verizon thread posting about cost.

The only reason there is only one complaint in this thread, is because there are 50 threads in this forum already, and no one has combined then into this sticky.

I'm willing to pay for quality but so far it seems like it's a gamble. I figure when the time comes to switch I'll have to make a choice between FIOS TV and BHN's digital TV, right now it's not looking to good for either side.

Honestly, FIOS picture quality is way better than BHN, as stated in both threads, there are going to be issues on both sides, this is the nature of any type of technology. But when it comes down to it, better picture quality, for less money, you make the chioce.

my only real complaint on BHN is that I can't get the 15/2 package without getting the phone. They tell me it's not possible, yet when my roommate worked for bhn, we had the 15/2 package without phone.

Its plainly a marketing ploy, and every company has them, but I just thought I'd rant about it today.

Yea, that pisses me off to no end. I thought they stopped doing that shit as all the techs I spoke to when it first came out said it was temporary. I figured when I moved back here I'd be able to get the highest speeds without needing tv or the phone, I called them and they told me that same shit, I was livid. And, it would be one thing if it weren't possible, as you said, it's a lie so you're forced to get everything if you want fast internet. Fuckers.

It does suck but i think the reasoning behind that is they are only releasing it to the people who are going through a new cable plant for the time being. Hopefully they will be changing that next year as they are getting ready to drop some big $$$ on rebuilding and upgrading the cable plants.

that really chaps my ass. i really dont have the need for the TV or a landline as i use my celly for everything. Plus, if the power goes out, there goes your phone.......i know because my folks have the whole shebang at home

If you weren't aware, the majority of the MTA's have a battery backup that's good for hours.

Regardless of what you THINK you may know, they may have one without the battery backup, that can be fixed by request more than likely. IF they do have one with a battery backup the power would have to be out for quite a while in order for the service to be affected. Lack of infrastructure? Verizon doesn't have near the infrastructure that BHN has acquired over the years. IF you want to complain about the inability to have those speeds then fine. IF you don't want to hear the truth about why you can't have exactly what you want then that's YOUR problem. As it's been said before, almost everything is being upgraded and you'll see some "improvements" on your end very soon. I can't convince or educate some one that doesn't welcome it. Once again, it's being changed and if it's not at the rate that you want it...it's not my problem...it's your's.

What I find so humorous is that the people who actually matter in BHN, like Pollo and Trip, who work in the NOC, couldn't care less what anyone says in these threads, they actually DO know what's going on, not just what some lead has told them and they're not in here preaching about how wonderful the company is or how much better it is than Verizon. THAT is pretty funny.

I was just made aware of several up and coming changes at BH, and I have to be honest: I'm nearly always suprised at what Bright House intends to provide to the subscribers.

I never had Bright House services before I worked for them, I used to have Verizon DSL, and never watched television. I can honestly say when/if I leave - I will surely miss the free cable - and pay the service fees for the features and benefits that they have to offer.
