i think what he's saying is (and I agree with him) that no matter what he says, your opinion isn't going to change. And its true, we have your verizon nut swingers, and your bhn nut swingers, and trust nothing anybody says will change either of their minds.

I wasn't alluding to "You get what you pay for". I said that people rarely take the initiative to find out exactly what it is that they are paying for.
I wish I could talk about the reasons behind some of BHN's shortcomings. There is enough allusion there to keep you busy pondering for quite some time, I am sure. |

Honestly, I'm not going to spend any time pondering it. If you're not going to say anything, than there's nothing for me to think about. If I sat there scheming about what could possibly be wrong, I might as well move to Roswell and come up with 90 other conspiracy theories

I'll try to be short and concise.
Is not that I don't care, but Im here to make a living just like you. There is enough firefighting that I do on a daily basis to come to my home away from home to be defending my employer on MY forums, when after all my employer doesn't care that Im in the middle of nowhere fixing shit at 3:00am on Christmas day.... Doesn't matter which sector do you work for, as long as there is another ship leaving dock there will be options and people will complain one way or the other, now that Verizon is here, you will see more of this more frequently, and in fact, I welcome that because that means Im up for bids to whoever wants to hire me at the highest rate. Does that mean that what you say doen't matter ? of course not, some of the major compaints that I've seen logged here as been brought up to several meetings. One of them being the ridiculous idea of not having a 15/2 RR package, unless you have digital phone, which I think is a total load of shit of which none of the technical groups have any control over. Based on the trends, in my field ( digital video, interactive, and on demand applications) the majority of our current issues are at the customers site can can be easily fixed providing there is enough knowledge, initiative, and sense of customer service with a lot of the field techs, which currently very little to none. In my opinion anyone who is employed that interacts with the customer, should be intimate on how the DHCT/MTA's work, it's boot process, loading of applications, acceptable signal threshold, but that falls on another category. In reality we have over 2 million customers, Bright House Tampa being the 2nd largest MSO in the world, spread over Pinellas, Manatee, Hillsborough, Citrus, Hernando, Polk, and Pasco county, with over god knows how many servers, earth stations (aka satellites), receivers, routers, DWDM, repeaters, amplifiers, miles of fiber and anything in between that relates to delivering tv/phone/internet to those 2 millions customers, there is definetly a lot that needs improvement, there's a lot that we are doing right, but out of those 2 million people, you really can't please them all. I am not in sales, marketing, customer service, or customer retention, so Im not going to sweet talk you and make you offers and promises, or excuses, they aren't paying me enough. |

Holy shitstorm, lol. What I meant buy "don't care" isn't that you guys don't care about the company or that you don't care about the customers. I was saying you don't care that some people want to complain, you don't feel the need to be in every one of these threads dangling off the company's nuts and arguing every last point for them. Sorry for using you guys as examples, I should have left your names out of it.

I was setting up a wireless network at my mom's boyfriend's house and decided to test the upload and download speed and compare it to my upload and download speed. We both have normal residential class Road Runner service.
Here are the stats: His: Download - ~800 kb/s from test.tampabay.rr.com Upload - 100 kb/s by uploading to my USF webspace Mine: Download - ~800 kb/s test.tampabay.rr.com Upload - 60 kb/s by uploading to my USF webspace Why the HELL is his upload speed so much faster than mine?! The only difference is that he lives in Treasure Island/St. Pete (33706) and I live in Tampa (33613). I figured I'd ask/post here before calling up Bright House and complaining. 2 things your basing your upload speed "test" by uploading to a usf server also your on wireless. Do this bypass your wifi plug directly into the modem and goto somewhere like speakeasy.net and see what your upload is then. Also are you on roadrunner lite ?? |

you're right though about the wireless. Additionally, in theory, your upload cap is supposed to be at around 64kb/s assuming that you have regular rr at both locations. |

I also tested the upload speed to my RoadRunner webspace.
I was plugged directly into the cable modem. I also tested the upload speed by seeding the same 4 torrents on my laptop plugged into each location. Not sure why he is getting that extra speed. |
