Droid
This thing looks badass.. I might even give up my iPhone for one. So who's getting one?

iPhone killer, no.
Awesome alternative, yes. I'm a huge fan of the OHA and AOSP though, and fully intend on replacing my G1 with another 'droid based smart phone come next year. : ) I really liked the ad that VZW pushed out for this phone too, I really hope it helps them out and AT&T (you know, lessening their network traffic from iDiots). ; ) |

I really like that phone. I want to play with it first, but I have been thinking of getting rid of ATT and the iPhone because I'm tired of Apples shit once and for all. I will be switching to an Android based phone, maybe not this one, but def an android phone.
I'm torn between 3 phones right now, the Droid being one of them. The other two are the Acer A1 that will sport the 1ghz snapdragon cpu, and then the Dell Streak which is amazing just because it's so large. I'm going to wait it out and see how the Droid launch goes and also wait for release dates for the other two phones, but I can't wait. |

If that's true it's kind of a let down. I can't friggin wait for the droid so I can play with it. Do you know if Verizon has any kind of winback program? When I switched from Helio to ATT, ATT covered my contract break fee. I'm hoping VZ will do something like this also becasue I have two active contracts with att.

I don't know, Verizon seems to be pretty eager to please new customers though..
Also this details the new AT&T cancelation policy: http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pi...rticleid=25390 Quote:

specs and release date. Now I'm kind of hesitant to switch. I was hoping it would have more than a 500mhz cpu, I may wait to see what else is coming. I really like the looks of the dell streak the most. Release date is set for November 6th. No price yet. |

A lot of people have made a good point about the CPU, that while even though it's a slower clockspeed it's still a superior architecture to a lot of the other faster clocked CPUs out there. All of the reports I've found have said it was a very fast device.

+1
the 1st phone of theirs i had was the v600 i believe, it was a flip. it was a cool phone until it wouldnt stay closed. i hate having my phones in my pocket so i always wear them on my hip, well this v600 became a step counter. i would either have to wait 10-15mins after i stopped walking to call someone or i would have to take the battery out because it wouldnt stop flashing. they are cheaply made, it was good for maybe the 1st two-three months then the phone went to shit. would always stall, wouldnt allow me to make calls and such just overall a shitty phone the 2nd phone i had from them was the razor which just made me hate the motorola company all together. the phone was so cheap and poorly made it seemed as if a 5yr old put it together. the flipping of the phone seemed britle and i was afraid to open it fast. again the software with it was shit and they were way to many restrictions with the phone. this phone actually lasted past the 2-3months unlike the v600 it lasted a whole 5months until i was just fed up with the thing and smashed it against the ground. this so called "Razor" made me wanna take a razor to my wrist with all the stalling and lag it had, i would press the show new message box and for some reason half the time it brought me to missed calls. after seeing all the restrictions we had in the US i thought i'd go overseas and see what they had to offer there (went to the UK sites). and i fell in love with the samsung D600 so i purchased it. this phone had no restrictions to it and i could do what ever i wanted to do with the phone. it lasted 1- 1.5 yrs until the ex pissed me off and i threw the phone in the air and it hit the only fucking tree in the neighborhood and shattered. personally since then i stayed away from the US phones but then went back to a US phone (non-carrier) the nokia n-95 8gb due to the GPS having different freq or whatever. i loved the n95 and couldnt wait until possibly a new nokia would come out. i still have the n95 and im sorta scared to sell it because i love it so much. now i have the n97, you all remember my complaints about the phone in the beginning but after a software update its golden. i love nokia and how their phones are made and how the ovi store is (not as good as itunes but close) their software and the quaility of the phone itself. i would stay away from motorola; they may have shaped up now-a-days but from my past experiences with them i will never touch another one of their phones. |
