Soo I have been fucking around with it for a good hour. It is a really nice phone. Not disappointed at all. Like i said the thing feels as solid as a brick (about as heavy as well). Keyboard is not nearly as bad as some reviews said, they are a bit flat, but not a problem if you have average sized fingers like me (dunno if this is gonna be a problem for you Trky, i remember you saying u were a big guy).

The screen is awesome, soo big and clear. Facebook is fully integrated with contacts, but it is a bit tricky adding numbers to facebook contacts at first. Ringer is loud as hell, and in call volume is very acceptable. I have not tried speaker phone yet. Visual voice mail is included, but does not work yet, keeps saying wrong password, i will call after work.

The camera is one of the best phone cameras i have used, seems on par with the iphones, flash is much brighter than i thought it was going to be. Storage says 14 gb of free space, which is more than enough for the amount of songs i usually carry on my old WM phone.

I switched from WM6.5, and man this kicks my old touch diamonds ass. The touch screen is so much more responsive with the capacitive screen. Only hiccup I have run into is trying to tap with my fingernail, i guess it does not detect that (different from WM phones as they use different touchscreen tech).

Oh i forgot to mention the verizon store on dale mabry right down from chilis and side splitters is doing instant rebates, so it was only 220 out the door instead of 320 out the door and mail in rebate.

i think im gonna order mine this weekend...

ill have to pay the 1 year upgrade price but thats only 269 then i get my corp discount that takes it to 229.

So I played with one today.. Definitely solid. I'm thinking about canceling AT&T and selling my iPhone now.

lol this seems to be pretty common... 3 of my friends with iphones are trading them out for a DROID.

Forget what i said about the camera. It is garbage shooting indoors or any place with weird lighting. Outside not bad.

I keep hearing really good stuff about the droid. The only thing that keeps me from wanting to switch is something that a friend told me that I'm not sure is true, hopefully Derek can test it. He said with CDMA you cannot have multiple data connections like you can with GSM. For example when I'm on my iphone I can be on a call, open up a web browser or facebook or anything using the internet connection and both will work fine. From what my friend said you couldn't do this on CDMA.

thats complete bullshit. I have storm and I used the web/apps all the time while on the phone. Its never been an issue for me.

Also, Droid is great, Im ditching this storm and picking up one of the new droid handsets, Ive already owned a G1 and a MT3G, both were excellent phones.

As far as an Iphone killer, Iphones are a trend now, nothing can kill a trend untill someone or something better comes along. The iphone isnt popular because of its functionality, but because of its sex appeal and ease of use. Droid is 10x better then the iphone OS imo, and I have owned 2 Iphones (2g/3g)

Droid is more functional, iphone is just simple and trendy. 2 completely diff phones that both have certin features over each other.

But yeah, the new droids are hot, cant wait to get mine.

Yea, simultaneous voice and data is something that current CDMA tech does not allow. You can however have multiple data connections, say Pandora and web browser going, just no phone calls while using the Data connection.

Just confirmed it doesn't work.. Says data connection unavailable. dub, you have yours on wi-fi maybe?

Kind of sucks but I've only used voice+data once in my life, but it was very useful at the time.

exactly... CDMA does not have the capability to do voice and data... They can do multiple data connections at once though.

now with the release of LTE comming in 2010 that is rumored to be able to do both voice and data.

BTW Mr. Fed Ex man has my droid it will be here tomorrow.. i feel like a kid waiting on santa clause.

On a side note, does the droid support LTE? Didn't see anything about that.

I don't doubt for a second that the AOSP will pick up LTE compatibility. The hardware might be the delimiting factor though...
