jailbreak and unlock it using redsnow then install cydia, icy, installous and that is all......

If you have a Slingbox, get the Slingapp. I have full Slingbox functionality on my phone. It doesn't look great but my wireless is shitty at work and there's never anything else going on.

Other apps that I recommend:
Photobucket
Facebook
Pandora radio
Unblock
Skype
AIM
Convertbot

IF you're a WoW player, the Armory app and Authenticator apps are also good.

Im worried about doing this Jailbreak thing does it void the warranty? If I don't know what I'm doing can I mess the phone up pretty bad?

from what i have read, if you need to warranty the phone, just hook it up to your computer and just restore it to the default settings

I feel the same way, im okay with dling free apps for now, im pretty good with computers and figuring stuff out but im new to the iPhone and dont have a clue.

Never felt the need to jailbreak mine, don't need tethering and the apps that I want/use are available without it.

^You can tether without jailbreaking.

Just sayin.

And one jailbroken app that I really miss is mcleaner. Comes in handy when you want to get a good nights sleep without getting a bunch of BS calls.

Congrats!

I miss my iphone and will be getting another come Jan. Mine was jail broken/unlocked and I can tell you, it used to freeze up every now and then, but I enjoyed having the ability to have different themes, and little toys etc.

If you plan on doing it, just find someone that can Unlock it for you and do it correctly. You should be fine.

I don't understand. Whoever "does it correctly" is just going to charge you to use the free program redsnow and then unlock then jailbreak it that way. It's not the jailbreaking process that causes the phone to experience freezes and other symptoms it's some of the tweaks and programs you download after doing so, which is why i back mine up on a daily basis so incase a program i download freezes it up or whatever i can just restore.
