I understand your concern's, and I admit that I'm biased to BH, but, sometimes people act like we should lower our rates to $0 just because Verizon is in their area. That's where my rant was deriving from. I work there to make a pay-check, and it kinda gets to me when they keep bitching about switching to Verizon at every possible second. What's worse is when it is in the area, but, they're putting up with BH for the hell of it, and I'm doing my honest best to fix whatever problem they have, all the while, hearing them bitch.. It get's aggravating. If they wanna switch,
FUCKING SWITCH!! I do not disagree with you guys though. Simply my rant. |

I heard that some people believe toilets run on electricity.
If competition enters the area, then profits will be lost just to the sheer fact that its something new that quite a few people are going to try just for the sake of trying. Now if you call up and say that the price is the determining factor in your switch, then taking a loss for 6 months would be worth keeping your business, and hopefully making money off of up-selling you, or making profits when you purchase other services from BH. The fact that a company will drop prices to keep you doesn't mean that if they did that across the board that they would still be profitable. Last edited by MianoSM : 12-15-2006 at 02:17 AM. |

I completely understand what every one of you have said, but the fact remains that for years BHN has basically had no competition. IF your services were as good as you say, the huge defection of customers would not have happened. Yes, lower price points can drive some customers to switch, but overall it's a hassle to switch companies, so most people would not switch unless they had reason to. Maybe not every reason is completely valid, but you can't argue the numbers, everyone I know wants out of BHN.

BH has had competition, it just usually buys it up. : )
Through buying up the other companies, then BH has to spend money on upgrading the old equipment, and meshing it into the BH system....I imagine that costs money, not only to upkeep and maintain, but also for the use as well. I know of about 100,000 people that are die hard BH fans. They usually call in asking for password resets, voicemail PIN resets, or just general assistance with dial access or programming their remote. |

as far as people stopping their internet service and going directly to Verizon, I don't think we have numbers on that and I don't think the head honchos care that much to hire statisticians to figure that out either. At this point Verizon's FiOS network is still very small in the Tampa Bay division and it is very expensive for them to keep expanding so over the next few years this turnover rate may increase but atm there still hasn't been a big boom yet.

The truth is that both company's have there base customers and those number are not changing that much, for each customer that leaves BHN a customer leaves Verizon. Both company's are growing in customer base. The true race is to see who will pick up the dial up customers.

its in all of the new neighborhoods in pasco too. i believe my problem with BHN is the same as Zates. they make you overpay for slow and degraded service. Not customer service but the actual lines. |

The catalyst for Zate was something along the lines of not being able to get the highest level of speed because his internet and digi-phone were on different bills or something (not something that can be helped). There were other issues, but this was the last straw apparently.
